Juice Review: Apple Pie from OFE (Old Fashioned Elixirs)

Something about this Old Fashioned Elixirs speaks to my flavor profile.  Delicious desert flavors that have a field day on the pallet, and this one was no exception.

Here’s what the website had to say about their Apple Pie flavor:

“Freshly-picked apples blend with sweet cinnamon, savory spices, and a touch of rich, buttery crust to deliver authentic, classic American apple pie like Grandma used to make.”

Flavor: So I will actually dissect this down into three sections.  These are three common problems I have found with other vapes that tinker with these flavors.

  1. Cinnamon and spices.  Guys, spices are not used in meals as the main dish.  You don’t have a bowl of salt or a cup of sugar for dinner.  Spices are designed to enhance the flavor, not dominate.  OFE does a really nice job of subtly dropping the cinnamon and spices.  It does just enough to bring out the flavor of the apples and maintain that delicious crust flavor.  Speaking of crust….
  2. I have tried a few desert/pie flavors that get too heavy with the crust flavoring.  Too much butter, not enough crisp golden notes.  Or maybe too crispy and not enough flavor with the baked buttery base.  What I get from this is a good golden flavor that doesn’t try to enhance or alter the texture taste.  Taking your fork to grab the last few bites?  Yeah, this tastes just like it.  Except for the apples….
  3. So many apple flavors get heavy handed.  Baked apples especially, which often times are too acidic from the start.  I feel that this brings the flavor to the forefront with the apple but doesn’t cross that line of going too far.

In short, if you like a southern baked apple pie like Grandma used to make, you might want to give this one a shot.
